Mathematics

Handmade

Other than my slight Pinterest obsession I often create my own resources to explore my units of work. This is an example of a made resources I have created. This was used on one of my postings teaching measurement where the group was moving from non-standard to standard units. After being introduced to using a ruler they used this sheet (laminated) with a whiteboard marker. With friendly competition in pairs they role a dice and mark their way up the well. Who gets their first wins. This type of activity allows students to scaffold each other and make sure that "correct" ruler methods are being used. This activity worked really well in once they were introduced to this this activity was used as a game to begin lessons.
